We are a grassroots movement founded in November 2016 by tenants and homeowners. We are a membership body of volunteers and have no paid staff. We believe housing is a human right and renters have an inalienable right to safe, decent, stable, and affordable housing. We advocate for renter rights and tenant protections from displacement caused by gentrification.

L.A. Officials Enact New Affordable Housing Law

Amid skyrocketing rents and a housing crisis, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti Friday signed and praised a new law that aims to strengthen enforcement of the city's Rent Stabilization Ordinance.

The law will require landlords who demolish rent-controlled units under the Ellis Act to either replace them one-for-one with affordable units or make 20 percent of new units affordable, depending on which is higher.

Richmond Rent Program

The Richmond Rent Program is a city program that enforces the Richmond Fair Rent, Just Cause for Evictions and Homeowner's Protection Ordinance. The program provides information and assistance to tenants and landlords who are covered by the Ordinance, which went into effect December 30, 2016. Tenants can call with questions about rent increases, repair and habitability issues, evictions, and other tenant-landlord issues. The City of Richmond also puts on regular Know-Your-Rights trainings. Upcoming trainings:

I am disabled .I renting  a  room in the rooming house  .it's a  Living room converted into the bedroom  and living with   landlord and  many other tendency since May , 2009   the landlord was building extra rooms in her garage, & and kitchen,plus splits up the master bedroom into two  intended for many people to rent..without permits and breaking numerous city codes. we were have 10 people only  one bathroom to take shower . the house don't have  Air conditioner and heater  she even not allowed us  to use .I bought small portable heater.
