Private Landlord -- No Rent Control

We had a fire in our apartment that started in the next door neighbors apartment and spread through our apartment. The fire started due to a propane BBQ that got our of control. We lost most of possessions and our animals in the fire. The apartment complex said that they could get us into another apartment but that we would have to pay another deposit and that our rent would roll over to the new apartment. I wanted to know about having to pay rent for the days that we have not been living there and also about having to pay another deposit for the new apartment. We are expecting to be displaced for about 2 weeks. I don't think that we should have to pay another deposit when we are not the cause of the fire and I think that we should get credit for the 2 weeks that we have had to live off the property.
