Rent Stabilization

Exemptions

SFH and condos per Costa Hawkins Act. Anything built after 10/1/1978 (units constructed after July 15, 2007 that replace demolished RSO covered units may be covered). Affordable housing, short-term rentals; “Luxury housing”, per local law.

How much can rent be increased and how often?

NEW: 90% of CPI, 1% floor, 4% ceiling.

No

Are passthroughs or additional costs allowed (pets, utilities, parking, etc)?

NOTE: Non payment evicts barred if tenant is less than 1 month behind on rent.
