Snapshot of Tenants in California

17 million Californians are tenants, the majority of tenants are from communities of color and earn a median income of $56,975 a year. Lack of regulation on rents and evictions, a low minimum wage, structural racism, and gender discrimination contribute to a cycle of poverty that keeps tenants in California from thriving. Tenants are an important part of every community, and as our numbers in California grow, so does the fight for renters' rights.
